Chat 2.0
As some of you experienced last week, rough waves brought chat down after hours and created severe interruptions during the day. I worked with the development team to identify the issue, and we found a quick fix and had a fast follow with a long-term solution. I apologize for the inconvenience that it may have caused you, and hopefully, there was no financial impact to missing out on chat.
To ensure that you have the best experience moving forward, please clear your cache on your device. A quick google search will get you the instructions to clear the cache on your OS/Device. There are so many combinations that I can’t list them all.
Why do I need to clear my cache?
The new chat platform is based on local storage, meaning that we store some of the messages directly on your device for quicker retrieval instead of hitting the database each time. This ensures that not only are you able to access your history quickly, but it also takes a significant load off of the server, allowing for more consistent performance.
But I did all that, and things are still weird.
Stop using android…
Seriously, if you still have issues after clearing the cache on your system, please make sure you have the latest version of your browser, then reach out to us through a support ticket on the site. We will work to resolve your issue as quickly as possible.
Will this happen again?
With the plans we have to improve OP, we may have an outage of some sort. Our goal is not to prevent all outages but to plan for and remediate the issue as quickly as possible. Please be patient during those times when they arise.
